Would you Rather?

A couple months back we had Girls night at Katie Sweeney's while eatting snacks and watching pretty in pink and roasting marshmellows over the candles. We decided to play her packaged game of "would you rather?". There were some horribly boring questions like would you rather eat soup or salad....but then we came accross basically the best question ever.

Would you rather have sex with someone with no arms or no legs?

It turns out everyone has a strong opinion on this matter. Think about it, which would you prefer? We had a heated debate over this topic with some demonstrations and roll playing before calling it a night and not coming to an agreement. Since then at lulls in conversations with other people we'll pose this question, everyone thinks about it for a little bit and then begins to debate thier side. Never does this question result in a boring night.

Recently Chris Hormann (i dont know if you read this) sent me this picture not knowing about the debate. (clearly this only adds more questions for guys to debate, but I still thought it was funny)

why NYC would ultimately be the demise of me

I was having a hungover stay in bed and watch TV morning when a commercial for NYC came on and I came to the horrible realization that its probably best if i don't move there. There are two main problems 1. RENT 2. Mama Mia. I strongly believe that if i moved to NYC I'd spend EVERY night alternating between these two shows thus alienating all of my friends and draining my bank account. I would then have to begin going to matinees for financial reasons which would begin to interfere with my job and eventually I'd have to quit that leaving me with no source of income, but still spending my money on these shows. Now I'd be unemployed and broke and have to give up my apt. I could probably move in with my grandmother for a little bit, but one of us would get sick of that pretty soon forcing me to live on the street and beg for money to fund my rent/mama mia habit. winter would come and I'd die of hypothermia. And that in a nutshell is why i probably shouldn't move to NYC.

Also I've decided after listening to pinball wizard today (like i do every day) that what I want more than anything is for "Tommy" to return to the big stage!

Great night last night at the 930 club with Leslie Jessica Robbie and Joe to see Jack's Mannequin! I guess DC has its own financial drains...and going to so many concerts might be mine. But I'm ok with that.

Tired monday but great weekend

Sat night was the 3rd annual Fab Feb Fest which was so much fun. If you've ever wanted an ego boost invite 500 of your closest friends to a bar add alcohol and there you have it. People i didnt know were coming up to me (and i'm sure a couple of the other girls) saying they HAD to meet me since i was a hostess. (oh yeah the skin tight low cut dress probably helped with that) The bar made us a special "party shot" it was like watermellon goodness, last i counted I had maybe 5 of them and every single time it was a different color. The other thing about being the hostess is people buy your drinks all night. I had a moment at the end of the night where i found it was best to just sit down with a nice glass of water but other than that it was great night, i'm already looking forward to next feb.

Sunday night was 3rd annual oscar date night with Rach "beer bitch" Safran vs. Chris "oscar machine" Shields. He's won the previous two years for a six pack of beer each. Trash talk began about 2 or 3 months ago with classics like "you are going down faster than rachel on a first date"...or my classy response "nuh-uh, i'm so gonna kick your ass". Anyway the votes are in and the winner is chris 14-10. Its because I vote with my heart (anything leo related) and he votes with his head.

This weeks winner for worst pick up attempt was someone at our party so I guess it must be a friend of a friend's...but he kept walking by me all night and say corny things like "we've gotta stop meeting up like this" when waiting in line for the coed bathroom...but the last time he came by he stopped, looked at me, and said "you've got a great smile, but i can tell you are a wild animal in that dress".....wow, that boy knows exactly what to tell a girl. Needless to say I immediately put down my drink and went home with him....just kidding.

So long OC, you will be missed!

I dont think i've been this upset over anything...well...ever! totally crushed. The OC is officially over and meredith grey was dead, and now alive again. last night was a pretty rough night for tv watching.

I realize the OC is an ultra cheezy show, but as you can tell by me STILL watching 7th heaven weekly I like to stick with things once I start. esp since I can just set my Tivo to record and watch whenever I want.

Lets just take a second to reminisce over the good times the OC has brought us.

*Seth Cohen/ Adam Broady
*Christmukkah and the bar mitzvakkah
*the world premier of the trailer for Star Wars Episode III (remember adam threw to the commercial)
*lots of mix cds to download all with great music
*using "the" before anything...ie THE oc, THE nana...etc
plenty more...feel free to add your own.

Grey's episode was totally corny and I almost wish she HAD died, but dylan and denny came back for an episode and were super hot as always.

Both shows were HUGE tear jerkers, Grey's as denny and izzy felt eachother's presence, and the OC as you saw them all grow up etc.

Actually I think the OC ended well. It was rushed and crammed into one episode, but i like how everything came full circle and everything ended well. And I like that they didnt bring back marisa as a ghost.

So its over and thats all I have to say about it for now. But as Adam Broady points out, if you are sad about the OC ending you always have the DVDs.

boy you've got a prayer in memphis

Weekly video comes early this week because I couldnt wait any longer to share this. It is my directorial debut and grand entrance into the world of music videos. basically its awesome.

so what do you think? pretty professional huh? Joey (you havent commented in a while but you prob still read this) you think your company or contacts or whatever pretty much just want to hire me asap so that noone else steals me away? yeah thats basically what I was thinking too.

on another note wow, that was a great show last night, but since I didnt get home till 2 am you will all have to wait on the blog for that. Lets just say I got to talk to Evan Dando and the drummer from Vietnam after the show :) I'm tired now :(

I already picked out my outfit so you better show up ;)

This weekend is the weekend, the big one, the one you have all been looking forward to. the annual feb party. You all knew it was coming, and if you didnt you know now you do, and clearly if you can get to this blog you are invited. Plus leslie and I are sorta DJ'ing but we arent as good as aaron lacrate (who is? seriously?). The Attic in Adams morgan sat 24th, its up by chief ikes.

ANYWAY I was perusing my computer to save photos to move over to the new computer when i eventually get it (hopefully with a sound card ;) ) and I came across this one from the first feb party around when we all first became friends.

I got to thinking how much we've all changed on so many levels since this picture :) plus the size of the group has grown so much i think we have about 500 people invited this time. for a group of girls who are relatively new to the area thats pretty impressive if you ask me.

you like how in the picture i matched my hair to my shirt? thats a real sign of class (although dont be surprised if some color returns soon, as soon as i find the right inspiration which hopefully wont be eternal sunshine of the spotless mind meets xmen this time b/c it needs to be more professional i guess since i'm older now....we'll see)

Monday Randomness

This weekend was full of birthdays, concerts, moustache's and mini skirts.

lily allen show, and paul and emily's birthday to be specific (pics are already up).

Leslie and will decided that the newest president's day tradition is this game called "drinko"...its like plinko, but for shots. Also I have been wondering why i have a planned parenthood condom in my purse...if anyone knows feel free to let me know. it could answer some questions.

also i tried leggings this weekend b/c i had seen them on this bass player olivia mancini and i thought it looked pretty hot....it worked alright, maybe i'll try it again.

This week's award for worst pick up attempt had too many to choose from, i narrowed it down to the two best. First was at rumors, some random dude came up behind me, put his arms around me, and leaned his head around and dove in to kiss me. This all happened so fast before I could figure out what was going on. As soon as i realized what this slimeball was doing i tried to squirm away. at this point he says in his suavest way "hey girl, dont you remember I bought you that drink?". actually I had bought my own drink thanks, and even if he had bought me the drink was that his ticket to attempt a surprise attack make out? I dont think so. I walked away and found my friends. Later he again snuck up behind me, put his arm around me and tried to stick his hands down my pants. lovely. I grabbed his hand and shoved him away. You know what line turns out not to work on guys? "um sorry i'm expecting a baby in like 6 months".

The second was at Rhodeside Grill at the mustache's and miniskirts party. I'm dancing with my friends and some guy backs up into me then turns and grabs my ass and says "excuse me, that was my ass you just grabbed". I just inch away a bit and he comes back with "that was supposed to be an ice breaker, did it work". "no" and i walked off. "ummm I have to go, my house is on fire"

You're wondering who I am-machine or mannequin

Recently Leslie asked me why I dont have a song on my myspace page. This is a good question, to which there is an excellent answer. Basically I dont want to just put any song on my page, i'm not a song whore. So which song would be best on my page? clearly STYX's Mr. Roboto. I mean come on, is there really any other choice? Unfortunately guess which song is not offered on myspace? They do have sail away and lady, both good choices, but no mr. roboto. I guess I could put a version of a music video on my page like I now have the Electric Six Danger! High Voltage, but its just not the same. So for now I invite you to enjoy the artistic musings of styx in my blog's video of the week (or however often i feel like posting one):

Also today is Chris' last day at work :( we had a lovely hh for him at willy k's last night, but its gonna be sad when he's gone :(

P.S. WTF mate! did anyone else see Grey's last night and want to talk about it? if so email me!

Blame it on Global Warming

Two new reasons recently came up why I'm glad I graduated from GW. I think GW is currently looking to only accept students with the fattest wallets and the fattest waist sizes.

As you've no doubt heard GW has not only claimed the title of the most expensive college in the country, but it is also the first college to reach the $50,000 mark.

As far as waist sizes go, I guess this has always been a problem which is why its pretty lucky that they mainly accept people with eating disorders as well. The "dining hall" is made up of fast food restaurants like burger king, Wendy's, Starbucks, and chickfillet. They've also recently extended the meal plan to include various local restaurants. My favorites being Froggy Bottom, and Lindy's for its Jalapeno poppers, grilled cheese, and pitchers of beer.

I just read today (in the hatchet) that in 2000 Penn where the GAP use to be they are putting in a Johnny Rockets. Once GW adds this to the gworld card's plan its all over for the slender figures of the student body. Can you think of any healthy options for students to eat? none coming to mind? yeah, thats what I thought. Of course its possible, but its certainly not easy.

stop complaining people...there is today's blog. a little late, but there it is.

Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha have got nothing on us!

Happy Valentines Day
From valentines
Click on it to view

Leslie and I made this collage as a valentines gift to our group of girls. We have a more decorative version with captions etc, but my computer couldnt handle it so I posted this instead. If you'd like to see the full version just ask!

For any of you wondering if we made it out to the show last night, we did. It was great and my ears are still ringing! I'll post that write up in my music blog on myspace in a day or so.

Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder where it's so white as snow

Well its snowing.

I want a snow day tomorrow (or any day) as much as the rest of you, playing on the mall, drinking warm hotchocolate...you know, the usual....but I really just want it to stop snowing. Why? because Leslie Laura and I are going to the rnr hotel tonight to see none other than stellastarr*!!! We saw them awhile back and as soon as we saw they were returning we purchased tickets.

I really mainly like snow when I can go outside and play in it. Today it sucks because I have to time leaving work so i dont get stranded in greenbelt, but really nothing can be worse than my drive home yesterday when they closed 295 for an hour and a half and I was between exits so all I could do was sit there. I think my officemate has already booked himself a room at the holiday inn right here. I guess that wouldnt be the worst since you can just go hang out at willy k's.

Basically it just needs to hold out snowing for just a little for me to enjoy the show then it can resume and pg county gov (orbital closes only when they do) can close tomorrow and we can all go play in the snow! good plan? are you in?

Monday Randomness

* After a long weekend I'm well rested and back at work. I cant tell if I'm feeling better b/c a. my cold ran its course and its all done now, or b. my parents were right and the biggest cleaning my room has ever seen including a 100% dust-ectomy and a new air purifier, and all new bedding did the trick. Either way my apt is spotless and I'm feeling better.

* While there were no bloggable or amusing pick up attempts this weekend, I got the best drunk text from one of my friends. 3:30 am sat/sun he texted me to say "I love you in a platonic way". (i feel like he'll want me to leave him anonymous on that one).

* My beautiful 6 string guitar has transformed into a 5 string...oops. So basically if anyone knows how to re string that please let me know. I've bought the new wire thingy, and it just needs to be put on. Its the big fat one that broke.

* Lastly i'd just like to say how much I love used cd stores. I could spend hours in there. There is a great one like a block from my apt on willson blvd. Thats really the only good one I know in the area, so if its not there I'm out of luck. But really its such a great idea because as you know I love buying cds, but what I love even more is buying discounted cds. best of all worlds.

The Wild Dogs Cry Out in the Night

George 104.1 won a little spot in my heart when they played Toto's Africa yesterday on my drive from Goddard to the maryland trade tower.

Besides this song being awesome it has a kick ass music video. I mean who wouldnt create a power ballad while hanging out at the library? Plus they managed to sing "kilimenjaro" so major gold stars there. (you might think i'm mocking the song, but no, i really do love it and voluntarily listen to it on a regular basis)

Plus it reminds me of the good ole days hanging out in coogan's attic/the saloon Drinkin' beeahs and playing way too many games of caps with coogs and paulie and gelbone, and shields, and jlau. you boys better come visit me soon! although shields lives down the street from me already :) (also i have lots more friends at home that i'd LOVE for you to come visit me, so dont feel left out that africa doesnt remind me of you)

Anyway points to 104.1 for reminding me of some fun times. Lets see if the globe 94.7 can live up to that!

Radio-tastrophy

All six FM1 Presets on my car radio are set to stations from home(boston). WBCN (104.1 the rock of boston), WZLX( 100.7 great classic rock), and I think also waaf, and wfnx and then two others that i forget...probably not kiss 108 or jamin 94.5 since i always freaked out when people made me listen to them. (and yes, i'm still on bcn's mailing list so if you want to know whats up in boston just ask me)

After making honnor roll and my parents freaking out after September 11th I was allowed to bring my car to DC Nov 2001. I immediately set the six FM2 stations to DC/MD stations. in this order DC101, the arrow, HFS, 104.1, 106.7, 107.3. Since that fall there have been quite a few changes. The first as you all know was HFS...but that just moved to 105.7 so I switched that preset. Next 104.1 changed to classical music but I was too lazy to switch that.

NOW the arrow no longer plays classic rock, but instead plays like 90's music. like 1 out of 10 songs are great and i get really excited, but the rest should have left the air waves years ago. While I am willing to give this station a chance, I am still really disappointed that there is no longer a classic rock station. This music is key for any long drive (including my hour to and from work).

Then I accidentally hit the button for 104.1 and instead of classical its almost the same music as 94.7....weird. I dont know what happened there. I think they keep calling themselves "george".

The only good thing about these new format changes is that they were actually playing music on my drive to work *gasp*. I guess georgie boy is going commercial free for 104 days...now if only they'd play music I want to hear in those 104 days....

So basically what i'm saying is people, I need help. Can someone recommend another station I can set as a preset that will come in while i'm both in MD and in DC since my drive every day spans both....I really need your help here.

Tim Thomas Saves Lives!

Tim Thomas, goalie for the Boston Bruins.

Last night Leslie and I went to the Bruins Caps game because I don't like to miss any opportunity to see any Boston teams in any sport when they come to town. It kinda makes me feel at home.

We got to Section 113 and found ourselves surrounded by amusing people.

Next to us was an older single mother and her maybe 8 year old son. Die hard caps fans, and severely spoiled child.

In front of us were two guys about our age who were clearly bruins fans. Turns out one of them is from Needham (a town close to where I'm from, Newton)...Actually Matt if you read this his name is Pat and he knows you.

The boys kept cheering for Tiiiiiiim Thomas every time the caps tried to score, and announced things like "Tim Thomas has siding for arms", "Tim Thomas has bricks for shin pads" (i guess implying TT is built like a house and can stop anything)...It was almost Jack Bauer-esq.

The mom kept trying to hit on the boys which was kinda funny, especially when the boys invited us out to drinks after the game and not her. (to which we declined) And then when the game went into OT the little boy started cheering and giving high fives to getting to stay up past his bed time!

Lastly what I dont get is why noone appreciates Dippin Dots: Ice cream of the future! Its awesome. Independantly Leslie and each of the guys questioned me on it...asking if i was eatting stones or what. You people just dont understand, its awesome. And just wait till the future comes!

Bruins won in OT shoot out!

Tuesday, you see, she had to be free

Tuesday is one of the best days of the week. I guess its no weekend or anything, but it is the day that new CDs come out. I think right now the CD I'm most excited for should come out some time around April I believe. I've already started hearing a few songs here and there, but those are the songs you get sick of first, so really getting the whole CD is almost always worth it. Another option is to download it, but I really like to get the actual CD for two main reasons. First because looking through the CD jacket the first time is so exciting, second what if your computer dies? well if you've bought the CD you have it backed up for the next computer. If you were wondering what that CD is that I'm excited for, clearly its the new Avril Lavigne CD.

p.s. I posted LOTS of new pictures on my angelfire site :)

Book It! Liberation Dance Party (again)

Sarah was in town so as per usual Sarah Leslie and I went to the Liberation Dance Party. I realized that this is the fourth consecutive year I've been going to this regularly. I love how they show music videos, most of which are totally ridiculous. My favorite might have been the electric six Danger!high voltage. you HAVE to see it. The Perfects (a band) came and played for some of the time...they were much less than perfect. in fact they were borderline terrible. They started and I was thinking OK they sound pretty good, but like 30 seconds into it leaned over to Leslie and said "OK, I'm done with this". Maybe they'll get better, maybe i just wasn't in the mood...who knows

One band that I had never heard before but love now I think was "scissors for lefty" but that could be because the guy in the video wore the sith lord costume the whole time. I'll wait till dc9 posts their play list so i can figure out if that's really the band that goes with the sith video, and then buy it or something. Another video that was awesome was Teddybear's "punkrockstar" with Iggy Pop, check out teddybear and you'll know why.

Funny thing we noticed was that there were a ton of songs we knew from commercials on tv.

I guess this is actually becoming a weekly feature...pick up attempts:

First the amusing one, This was in conversation to both me and Leslie, but I was just being a wing girl ;) So the band members of the perfects kinda dressed appropriately rock and roll, but then the lead singer kinda dressed in a knit sweater bare naked ladies style. Then this random guy "dennis the menace" came up to us and says "i'd probably pay 20 bucks to see them if they changed their name to Fat Guy in a Sweater". We both started laughing incredibly hard. then he says

"ok I am going to give you three options, which band would you buy tickets for?
a. little guy in a sweater?
b. fat guy in a sweater?
c. Midget in a sweater?"

Simultaneously Leslie and i responded "midget in a sweater"

To which he exclaimed "book it!"

Then the horrible one...Some guy was trying to chat with me while I clearly wanted nothing to do with him, he was asking all sorts of questions, so finally i ask him what he does for a living he responds...and i'm not kidding "oh i have a good job, I make a lot of money". He returned the question and asked what I did...he goes "wow, do you even realize how much you could be making?" and i was like "yeah, i have some idea" and he goes "you could be making like 150,000 fresh out" (um, no, you really cant) to which he follows up with "i know because I make a lot of money too"....Needless to say I gave up on being polite and just blatantly walked away at this point. Oh let me also add that he tried to buy me a Schlitz...probably doesn't make as much as he says even if i did care.

I cant even begin to describe the crazy stuff that happened sat night, maybe in future blogs I will. All I know is that the Wizards Lakers game was awesome as was Marie's 29th birthday flip cup fiesta!

I have little to no voice today :(

Vibe Test

Well, I've been running some more tests in the vibrations lab again...make all the jokes you want...Jeff's yesterday was "Okay, just one. Vibe testing can often be a very sticky situation. Now I'm done!"...nothing surprises me.

Anyway during lunch I let an older gentleman drive to lunch because I didnt think he'd like how messy my car was, imagine my surprise when he leads me to the largest pickup truck i've ever been in. He got in with ease while I had to scale the side of the truck to get in. I finally get in and he turns it on and I have to do everything I can to keep a straight face when I realize that we are listening to classical music in this monster truck of his. I dont know why that amused me so much, I think its just because it seems like quite the contrast. Then he gave me quite the tour of what the area use to look like in the 70's. He claims it use to be much nicer.

Also I always feel pretty out of place in the vibe lab, being the only girl in the lab all week (or longer). This was confirmed when one of the guys took my picture to put in the folder he has of the few girls that come through the lab...weird. Anyway this is like my 5th or so test and I've finally figured out the secret to not feeling out of place. Football. Basically I walked in and was like "how bout them bears?" and they were shocked for a second, and then continued talking football with me. This led to other discussions and at the end of the day we were all having fun joking around, and one guy even offered to lend me his music collection. THANK YOU FOOTBALL.

Both the Centrifuge tests and proof tests were running so all the doors I knew how to get to the lab from were now locked or blocked. It was pointed out to me that i could sneak in through the door behind the giant smoking liquid nitrogen tank. yeah, thats not sketchy. Luckily I havent had to use that door yet.

Just waiting for the lab to call me back over today....at least this set of testing will be over by the end of today. Also I've learned to like that lab b/c at least it gets me away from my TWO awful officemates.

Mornings

I think I've figured out one reason I can no longer wake up properly to my alarm clock without hitting snooze 6 times (no joke). Its because I wake up to a CD alarm clock and I think its time to change CD's. This happens from time to time and I probably should have realized this sooner. Its kinda funny too because every now and then I hear one of these morning songs and am sorta jolted like i should be waking up, but i'm already awake and probably out at a bar.

Songs I've become immune to
1. Keane- Somewhere Only We Know (currently in player)
2. Avril Lavigne- Take me Away
3. Avril Lavigne - Losing Grip
3. Placebo- Every You Every Me
4. Beatles- Good Morning Good Morning
5. Blur- Coffee and TV
6. Pink Floyd- Speak To Me/Breathe (probably not a good choice this didnt last long)
(probably some others i cant think of right now)

Songs I'd like to wake up to
1. That song my grandparents use to sing to wake me up in the morning when I lived at their house (yes, i was in high school then, so what?)
2. A real trumpet playing revilre (not a recording)

Any Suggestions As To What I Should Put In Next?
