Go away James Blunt

While we were in hawaii leslie and i would be driving around trying our hardest to find a radio station with partially decent music. We found one mostly listenable station at 99.5 where every half hour they'd give the news update entitled "Maui Nowi". It made us chuckle every time.

This was the only station it seemed on the entire island that didnt play local music or JC music...or even local JC music.

What this station did play between decent songs was endless amounts of Daughtry and lincoln park.

This is what i picture every time i hear that f'ing daughtry song:

No joke. Those guys did karaoke to it EVERY night in new orleans.

Anyway at one point leslie pointed out that these guys play lincoln park "like its thier job" to which i responded....um, they are dj's it IS thier job.

Early on in the trip we thought we were safe when this "retro" song came on the radio. It was terrible but we made it through. honestly we were happy to hear a change of pace, plus we figured we'd never hear it again. Well the next time we got in the car we heard it again. Thats weird. So i pulled out my trusty cell phone and ran the music ID program which is when we found out the terrible news...this was James Blunt singing 1973. TERRIBLE SONG. It seems that every time we got in the car they played it. It is played in Maui nearly as much as hey delilah is played in DC (which i've heard a record 4 times in one hour)

Anyway, i hope to never hear another james blunt song again.

The NBA is STALKING me

The other day Eric and I were planning our upcoming trip to New Orleans. He briefly considered trying to go to a hornets game while we were down there and noticed something creepy.

http://www.nba.com/hornets/schedule/

go to that page. does any team name show up yellow? Eric lives in philly and all the sixers games showed up yellow.

I clicked on the link and noticed that all the washington games show up yellow. Ok maybe it gets our location from our IP address and makes our area yellow...right?...WRONG.

I continued scrolling down and BOSTON was also yellow. the NBA not only knows where I live, but also what team I root for. CREEPY!

let me know if that page does anything for you.

P.S. THE OFFICE STARTS TONIGHT

Wickedly Delicious

So I am a sucker for branding, packaging, marketing...whatever. Every time m&m's re packages their stuff i have to buy it (and yes, i still have my un opened star wars m&m's)

Anyway I was at whole foods this week and found yogurt I had to have. The company is "Rachel's" and the slogan is "Wickedly Delicious"....yeah, that just about sums it up.

The flavors of this yogurt are weird though. Most were too weird to even buy, but I got the two most normal ones. Vanilla-Chai and Peach-Green Tea with Ginseng. I am about to try the peach this morning. I tried Vanilla earlier in the week and boy did it make me wired. talk about a way to start off the day. This one is supposed to be calming so we'll see!

Beltway Plaza

One of the worst "malls" i've ever been to has to be the Beltway Plaza. I almost wouldnt even consider it a mall, but I guess it is.

With the exception of Luvin' Time all the stores are pretty trashy.

(ok so there are one or two normal stores there like fye and radioshack). Overall The only reason I ever go there is to go to the target that is attached, or to go to 3 brothers. Today I was driving past to get to Chipolte (even though its not thursday) and I noticed the sign that i've passed a million times bragging about the stores inside. They call out 4 or 5 stores by name then add "over 100 other shops".....REALLY? is there space for 100 shops in there? No chance there are that many. Maybe i'll pick up a directory some times

Foo-esday

Its almost quitting time on monday and all I can think about is how when I wake up tomorrow morning there will be a new Foo Fighters CD waiting for me on itunes. I pre ordered it already too.

way excited.

I already have already downloaded the pretender like over a month ago and have been patiently awaiting the rest of the cd.

Seriously though, how can you not love them?

Monday morning randomness

Family guy season premier this week was awesome, total knock off of star wars, scene for scene. I suggest you try and download it and watch it. I think my favorite was when Chris (luke) is looking at the two suns and the music is playing in the background and all of a sudden he goes "ladies and gentlemen, John Williams and the london symphony orchestra" and the screen pans left to show the orchestra. Then when the home gets attacked and the aunt and uncle are no more, he is more concerned about john williams b/c that meant we'd have to continue the episode with only danny elfman doing the music.

Also I pretty much rock at fantasy football. I'm 2-1 (the one was a tough loss, which involved me flying before the games so i couldnt change something that should have been changed). Anyway the first week i was the best in the league, and for this week i'm the second best. My co workers were saying i'd suck cuse i'm the girl in the league, but i'm showing them!

also my parents left, but not without taking me to citronelle first. thats prob the best dinner i've had in dc. mmmmm.

call me a safe bet, i'm betting i'm not

sometimes there are weird coincidences in my life. like this week i've mainly been listening to Brand New. A band that i like but hadnt listened to in a couple months, then yesterday I met mike at potbelly's in college park for lunch and there is a dude there playing guitar---only brand new songs...so then i get back in my car and want to hear more and i'm listening to the line "is this how a toy feels when its batteries run dry"...and just as it plays that line my ipod runs out of batteries. FREAKY.

Also last night was fun, my parents and sister are in town so they took me, peter, julie, and jordan to the melting pot! thats seriously one of the best restaurants ever. how can you go wrong with melted cheese and chocolate. seriously.

Today while i'm at work my family is on a segway tour, so if you are in dc and see some people on a segway that look like me feel free to say hi :)

Tommy

Ok so i've spent a good part of my life listening to and enjoying the rock opera that is The Who's Tommy, but i've never seen it. That is untill this week.

You see a couple months back I impulse bought it on ebay--you know how it is, you see something you like, make a bid for it not thinking you'll win, and end up winning and are forced to buy it. (Its ok because I now know I can just get super ebayer Levi to re sell it for me).

Anyway, i was pretty mocked for buying it and was even told it was terrible and i'd hate it. This didnt stop me, i was still determined to watch.

To my surprise it was AWESOME. i mean its a little corny and ridiculous, but really thats what makes it so great.

I've got one question though...how does playing pinball make him a millionaire? If so maybe i should start working on my pinball skills.

also i could do without the sally simpson chapter. that part was totally random and really went no where with the storyline.

so thats what they meant when they told me they had a penthouse suite....

So I took the super shuttle from Dulles to my apt since i got in at 6am which is way too early to make anyone come pick me up. I got to my place and the driver goes

"hey, I know this place! Penthouse has a unit in there. They send the centerfolds there for a little recuperation"
(pause)
"ummmm....are you a playmate?"

signage

At most beach access points there were all sorts of "you're gonna die" warnings....All of which we promptly ignored--well except these two:

Man of war huh??? well I think we all know what that really looks like...if they want to call it man of war fine by me...I guess it works

Sharp Oral? ok ok, i realize this sign was modified by some hawaiian punk who thought it was funny to scratch off the "c"...but at the same time its also a good warning.

Second star to the right and straight on till morning

Well I'm back from Beautiful Maui! It was amazing. I'll post more including photos etc later in the week. usually i dont have a problem with jet lag, but i'm having quite the time adjusting back this time :(

Jessica and Robbie's wedding was incredible. They couldnt have had a more beautiful setting, and the circle of love made for some great pictures.

Surfing was so much fun. I'm thinking about quitting my job and becoming a pro surfer. I think my next stop is the tow in competition this winter at Jaws.

Snorkling I can do without, but it was still cool to see the fish up close (but far enough away so they dont bite me! (i just like swimming in the waves really)

hiking was fun especially since there was a (very cold) fresh water pond at the top to jump in and then hike back in our swim suits.

Sunset atop a dormant volcano was pretty darn cool. Litterally. it was like 40 degrees! the ladies and children sat in the semi heated convertible while watching the stars but poor robbie and levi had to sit outside.

ummmm I'm sure there is a lot more so I'll blog more later :) keep checking back!

Hawaii Bound

After a lovely long weekend I am at work for one day, then ready to head out again for another extended vacation. Ten days in hawaii! Jessica, Robbie, Lindsay, and Ross are already there and me, Leslie, Charlotte, Levi, and family (and extended family) leave tomorrow!

I might be blogging from hawaii if anything awesome happens blog worthy since Leslie will have her laptop and I might start to miss blogging.

I am going to go check into my flight now. If you want to reach me you can still email or call while I'm away, just remember there is a 6 hour time difference :)

Also dont lose faith in my blog, I'll be back on the mainland by sept 17th so come back to my blog then :)
