Nobody puts Rachel in the corner: Brittany and Chris' wedding!!!

This weekend I went to phonicia (next to woodstock) NY for Brittany and Chris' wedding at last! It was so beautiful and lots of fun!

The wedding was at chris' weekend/summer home which was probably almost identical to the community they go to in dirty dancing. We stayed in some cabins down the street at a bhuddist retreat...although we clearly did not obey thier "quiet hours" rule when we yoinked the keg after the wedding ended and continued it at the cabin. A bus took us between the cabins and the reception, but i dont remember much about that...

Brittany and Chris have been together since they were like 15 or something and we always looked forward to when Chris visited us (well really brittany) at GW, noone was surprised when they decided to get married but we were all beyond excited.

It was fun seeing old gw friends and also finally meeting chris' frat brothers that we had all heard so much about! Also i met a porn star...i'm not sure yet which movies she was in, but you can be sure i'm gonna find out.

Sunday we stopped in woodstock for lunch and shopping, and it was everything I had imagined. The stores were all hippy tie dye-inscense shops, and there was even a peace protest going on! I kinda felt like that town had gotten left behind a couple decades, but that was pretty cool for an afternoon.

ooops

Soooo today just isnt gonna be one of those days I spend a lot of time at work. I just got here, and i'm leaving at 2:30

The reason I just got here is kinda weird. Now granted I didnt get a good head start and I knew i'd be here a little later than usual....but while I was driving to work (something i do 5 days a week) I spaced out...and missed like every turn possible. I ended up by "big D" liquor store, and "miss charlote's crab house" and "restaurant restaurant".....yeah, it was a good neighborhood. I quickly plugged in my gps and re directed my route to work (which basically meant turning around). SO i'm here now. and its gonna be an awesome day. I can tell.

One thing that I got that I'd like to share with everyone is this totally not doctored picture that katie sweeney sent me.

on a side note i finally got leslie to agree with me that harry potter--at times--is hot!

its ok, he's 18 now so its legal.

poor Jasmine...I hate that bird and even I feel bad

so last week at work my dad sends me the following photo with the subject title "Jasmine is almost lunch"

Nice touch with the faded soft edges dad. Anyway I email my dad back to find out the story behind the photo and this is what I get:

Mom put Jasmines cage on the table in the back yard and she left for swimming. I had some phone calls. I hear this racket on the patio and see this big red tailed hawk trying to get into the cage. Jasmine is freaked. I drop the phone and grab run outside, shoo the bird away (maybe I should have just pretended I didn’t see the bird until ...) Any way I take Jasmine inside and go back on the phone. The hawk comes back looking for lunch, and I grab my Nikon and start shooting.

Weekend Festivities

I have the most awesome friends ever. Thanks to everyone that came out Friday night! I think the final count was somewhere in the 30's which makes me feel loved.

As Julie puts it drinks just kept appearing in my hand all night, it was great! Even the bartender and one of the managers bought me drinks!

I'll post pictures soon, and if you took any please send them to me :)

Sat was Jessica's Bridal shower out in Bowie at Charlotte's house. This was a lot of fun! We played some games led by Charlotte which turned out to be lots of fun!

afterwards leslie and I stayed at the house and levi and robbie returned with the kids and we all hung out for dinner and randomness. Turns out the craziest people go to rita's in bowie. We saw this one dude with a yellow car, license plate "bird8U" and a sticker of the road runner on his car. he gets out and we can see his shirt (tucked into his jean shorts as levi was amazed by) and the shirt is a spray paint picture of the road runner and the back reads "beep beep"...did i mention he was at least 40...i cant make this stuff up. we were laughing so hard that we had to walk away from the store.

my baby pigeons hatched. Basically the mom just sits on them all day, and when she flies away and you can see the babies they are pretty ugly and look dead, except i've noticed a change in size so they must be alive. These babies are the stuff horror movies are made of, so frickin ugly. So i guess I have 4 more weeks of them before they fly away.

Also I bought harry potter and am 100 pages in...i dont want to talk about it till i'm done reading it though.

mmmmm

So I was at burger king in cipriano square the other day and i noticed a sign for slush puppy brand in a local convenient store. I dont know if you've tried the slush puppy brand slush drink, but its basically amazing. Its consistency is very different from slushies or icees, and blue raspberry is the best flavor ever. I use to get them all the time on the cape when I was younger, but I havent seen any for sale in years.

well wed I had another miserable day in the lab, so I told myself if we finished in one day I'd treat myself to a slush puppy, and lucky for me the test went without any problems.

So after testing a co worker and I went to "Kwik food mart" in cippriano square. I found what they claim was the slush puppy area and was suprised to find that slush puppy has changed their product just slightly. The ratio of ice to sugar water now leans towards ice :(

One thing that I thought was funny (especially after my trip to the 7-11 kwik-e-mart) this store was probably the closest I've ever seen to what the real cartoon kwik-e-mart would be like. It was amazing, plus they have any frozen treat you could imagine ranging from birthday cake flavored ice cream to two foot long flavor ice. I am not kidding. this place is amazing and I'll definately go back.

Also tonight is the big party :) make sure you are there or you'll regret it. its gonna be fun :)

three things that dont relate to eachother

1. Last night I went out with some people for Joe's Birthday. I thought it was going to be awkward, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. Turns out all his friends live in my neighborhood now! not that i'm gonna go hang out with them or anything, but still its cool.

2. I'm getting pretty excited about my upcoming birthday. I think i'm one of those people that at any age will just always love thier birthday. My birthday isnt till next week, but Anyway this friday we are having a bday party for me at Rocketbar in chinatown so feel free to stop by. If you read this blog chances are you are welcome to come :) I just got birthday presents in the mail from my parents too, a beautiful necklace and two new lenses for my camera! definately going on a photo safari this weekend.

3. One last thing from yesterday's blog. Outside dc9 was this homeless guy named Raymond. He was kinda harassing people a bit, asking for money. the usual. Although he was def on something. Anyway before the show started the police came to arrest him. It was kinda sad b/c he was trying to figure out how to fit his shopping cart into the police car :( poor guy. The bands dedicated some songs to him...thye are from out of town and not use to homeless people i guess. Also while My So Called Friend was playing someone tried to break into September twilight's van...I guess it was a converted police van or something and the people wanted to steal the siren.

DC9, Camp Friends, not enough sleep

Last night I went out to DC9 to see two of Matt's bands that are on tour together on the Vodka Mystery Tour. September Twillight, and My So Called Friends.

Matt lives a town over from me back home, plus we use to go to summer camp together. This show was a solo mission for me, but i knew matt so it was ok, plus I made friends when I got there.

September twillight were really good musicians. I havent decided how I feel about them as a whole band though. But the talent is there for sure. Matt was telling me that the bassist won the title of best bassist in Boston so I was looking around for a Bass guitar...I had a pretty hard time finding it till I realized that it was a six string bass guitar--pretty nifty.

My so called friends had some spunk to them, lots of chemistry and sounded really good. excpet thier first song which I thought was lame.

Matt is super good at picking bands that will make it years before they make it (finger 11 being a good example) In this case I say there is a pretty good chance you'll hear about my so called friends again.

As a result I am very tired today.

There is no I in threesome

How random is it that Bladensburg got a Kwik-e-mart? Clearly I went though. It was pretty good. Got some Krusty O's, Some buzz cola, some pink frosted donuts. The Krusty O's turned out to be fruit loops, the buzz cola was pepsi, but the pink frosted donuts were AWESOME. they smelled good, they tasted good, they dyed my mouth pink. yep i'd get them again. I'll probably go back to that Kwik-e-mart before they turn it back to a lame 7-11.

Sat I went with peter, mike, mike's roommate and his girlfriend to the Whitesox Orioles game. It was a sad loss on the sox's part. orioles just snuck up on them in the end.

Sunday we went to an awesome pool party at some guy from Jen's softball team's apt. For starters this kid seems to have everything in common with me based on the decoration in his apt. It was funny b/c we sat down and saw a fenway poster, a pink floyd poster, an entourage poster, and the office was playing on tv. then leslie goes to the bathroom and comes back saying "he even has a steve nash poster in the bathroom--man you two really do like the same stuff". Everywhere I turned there was yet another thing that i liked, like various star wars stuff or led zeppelin posters.

I'm kinda regretting my decision to take two weeks of meds instead of one day with an IV. if I had to make that decision again I'd choose the IV b/c the meds keep making me naseaous :( Only a few more days to go! cant wait!

I bought a new car...it turned out to be an alien robot...who knew

Last night I went and saw Transformers with a bunch of the guys from work. We went to duclaw first which was kinda funny, I guess people were a little pessimistic about the movie ;) shots of tequila help all movies right? but it turned out to be AWESOME. as Yaz said, it was toy porn. I thought the action was good, the story was good, and the script was funny. wins all around. I'll see it again :)

From the bad reviews i've heard I think they just took the movie too seriously, you have to just sorta laugh with it and not over think anything. some parts are kinda corny but its alright, its funny :)

Guys you'll like the movie b/c there are two really hot girls, and girls you'll like it cuse there is one really hot guy and one guy with a great personality.

For the first time in a million years I remembered to bring my GW id which never expires, and dispite it having a picture of me when i was 17, people still let me use it which is pretty cool.

Oh and we saw it at Muvico which I had heard about, but never been to. Its awesome. I'm totally going back there.

The Order of the Pheonix

Last night a bunch of us went to see the new Harry Potter movie. (me, tristan, kati, peter, and joe). I really enjoyed the movie. Unfortunately As I continued to think about the movie later in the night I started thinking about all the good scenes they had cut. mainly the scene in the hospital. If any of you see it without reading the book let me know if you were able to follow it at all, because I doubt you'll be able to.

Although I'm being a little negative the movie overall was really good. The special effects were good, and all the scenes were really beautiful. I wish I were at hogwarts instead of work today. The book comes out in a little over a week so I'll be there in no time :)

Day 4 of the meds....maybe today is the day I can stay through a full day of work. we'll see.

sickyl part II: the great Dre

Happy 7-11

I went to another dr last night, he kept me on the antibiotics but upped my pain killers....he said not to drive after taking these so that should be interesting getting to work....

Also Tim was in town last night so we stayed up watching the allstar game before going to bed. lately i love sleep. Anyway it was GREAT to see tim! next time I see him will be at his wedding! so exciting :) i've already booked that one :)

since i'm too sick to blog (lol yeah right) i'll just post some ims Dre sent me about my blog that made me laugh.

deckledgd: Ahem
deckledgd : I have been reading up on your blog
deckledgd : (1) i think couple's clubs are usually frequented by men and prostitutes
deckledgd : despite the fact there are signs that say "seriously, no prosititutes. seriously"
deckledgd : (2) the bird babies will start incessantly chirping soon...so have fun with that
deckledgd : (3) but maybe, if you're lucky something from nature will eat them.
deckledgd : (4) you must clear off the nest when the birds are hatched. birds are very lazy and will lay eggs with minimal rebuilding in old nests. you could have many, many tenants in that nest over the course of the summer if you dont watch out
deckledgd : (5) you totally posted Jem's guitar on your website
deckledgd : which is obviously truly truly truly outrageous
deckledgd : also, i also have a bunch of ridiculous things i really would like to get
deckledgd : like a moped!
deckledgd : sneakers with rollerskates in them!
deckledgd : leather pants so shiny my ass is a mirror!
deckledgd : um, i should get back to studying for the bar

sickly

Yesterday I left work around noon and spent the remainder of the day in an urgent care center for some urgent care :( The good news is I dont have mono or strep! yay! I'm getting really good at having blood drawn. Before last month i'd never had it taken from my arm, now i'm a pro.

Anyway I'm now on antibiotics and pain killers. Lets hope this makes me better :(

After getting some urgent care I slept a bunch then we went out to try and find the newest harry potter dvd to prepare for the new movie. Neither blockbuster nor hollywood video had it to rent or buy! crazy. sucks

Well i'm gonna attempt to make it through the day today...but chances are i'll leave early again :(

A blog inspired by Puja

Happy Birthday Puja!

Friday Puja emailed me to ask for my dimensions for the bridesmaids dress for her wedding. I guess her Aunt or someone is traveling to india to get the outfits made. I couldnt be more excited.

This is what puja tells me is the general idea of it (different colors):

In my excitement I showed Leslie and Tristan the outfit and we headed out to the pool on sat. We then embarked on one of our infamous missions to target and saw one or two people wearing similar outfits. Each time someone would remark something along the lines of "oooh maybe yours will look like that". We thought it was kinda strange that we saw so many, but didnt think much of it. What i found particularly weird after browsing the website puja sent me was that most of the outfits we saw looked more like "festival" outfits than every day stuff. Oh well maybe I missed the memo and that was now the cool thing to do.

Well sat night on my way back from capitol hill Leslie and I found ourselves infront of the convention center, face to face with maybe 50 people in the same type of clothing!

dont you think its A little coincidental that within a day of seeing what mine is going to look like there is an entire CONVENTION in town for that? Its too bad mine hasnt been made yet, otherwise I would have fit right in.

Side note: once mine is made and the wedding is over I fully intend to casually throw it into my wardrobe at least once a week.

sucky friday

I couldnt be happier that its almost the weekend. I know we got the 4th off but today and yesterday are sucky lab days. I've never wanted a test to end more.

on the bright side we are kicking off the weekend with a nats brewers baseball game. Will organized it, and its mostly his office plus me leslie and tristan...so it should be fun with a few awkward instances. yeah....that should be weird.

anyway i'm off to the lab.

weird

I hope you all had a good 4th. I'm not ready to be back at work...but here I am.

This is a follow up blog...remember that herb garden I planted months back? Well something is finally growing....no, its not herbs. its two baby pigeons. Yeah, thats right, a mom pigeon made a nest and laid 2 eggs in my herb garden. its on that part of my balcony that you cant really see b/c it hides behind the wall. So tuesday I go out to my balcony before heading out to Rocketbar so I know what the temperature is like and this piegon nearly attacks me before flying away. I turn to where it flew at me from and there is the nest and eggs. As of today the mom is back sitting on the eggs. I dont think i'll be going out on that balcony for a bit.

UPDATE:
I've named the mom pigeon "pidgie"...Suggestions for the two baby pigeons are welcome. Dad pigeon seems to be mia...typical

Update 2:

I looked up pigeon life cycle and it looks like these little suckers hatch within 17 days...then they will be here like 4 weeks...i dont know what I'm gonna do if they are noisy! also I have this fear that they will never go away. I WANT MY BALCONY BACK

Happy 4th

Happy Birthday America.

Also Happy Birthday John Waite. If I said "I aint missin you at all" I'd be lying. Every day I wake up and wish that you'd put out another cd. As a lot of you know my morning alarm clock is a CD player, I think I'm probably going to go out and buy the 1992 classic "The Essential John Waite" so you can gently wake me up each and every morning...honestly I dont know why I dont have it already.

More Atlantic City Thoughts

Things i forgot to post yesterday about atlantic city.

1. I wish instead of rickshaws up and down the boardwalk i wish they had giant motorized monopoly pieces. I definately would have blown my entire winnins to ride in a hat car or iron car. Other than that it was a little cool feeling like you are walking around the monopoly board.

2. We found an ad for Calligula's couples club. That amused me more than it should, but noone would go with me. They had "semi private rooms" and Mirrored dance floors.

3. It turns out i like/am amused by trump a whole lot more than I thought I was

4. Jordan got a royal flush which resulted in him getting comp cards at the trump bengal club...I wonder what it takes to get comped a room there.

Thats all I've got for now

Atlantic City

This weekend six of us went to Atlantic City, me, Tristan, Leslie, Mike, Ted, and Jordan. It was an awesome weekend.

Friday night we got there and immediately hit the tables and began drinking. Thats the nice thing about casinos...free drinks. So by 2am we were ready for a little dinner. The night ended with me hitting 41 bucks on penny slots. that was pretty sweet.

The next day was alternated by shopping beach and more casinos before dinner and the rest of the night in casinos. At one point tristan turned on Star Wars because she said she was trying to get in my pants and clearly that was the fastest route. its true.

My favorite moment was when leslie passed out before midnight and I did what any good friend would do...place things on her and take pictures (look for those soon) but she rallied and made it out to more casinos.

I'd say its fair to say fun was had by all. I probably missed some awesome story which i guess i'll post later. but i'm so tired right now that I just dont care.
