Bandana search

This week we took a lunch break to walk around the greenway shopping area to find my officemate some bandanas to roll up and wear beacuse "its time to look awesome".

We started by going to modells. They had none.

We continued on and my officemate began to clarify what type of bandana he wanted: One with a harley, or guitars on fire, or something manly like that.

So what was our next stop??? The pet store. To no surprise they did have bandanna's but they were a weird fabric, and wouldnt fit....but they did have harley bandanas.

We continued around to some girly store that sells like wigs and weaves and all that fun stuff. They had tons of bandana's in the window. in every color. Eric bought a few, and then I bought him the best one of all. An american Flag one with an eagle soaring over it. its awesome. he better wear it.

So yes, its easier for a dog to get a harley bandana than a person. go figure

Video Games

I think i need to upgrade my super nintendo system soon and i'm deciding between an xbox360 and a wii.

I think i'm leaning towards the Wii because I need Tony Hawk, and Guitar Hero, plus the sports package looks like fun.

On the other hand the xbox 360 lets you play fun group games like scene-it

The only thing is its like 250 to get a machine, but i really want to save up and get a giant flat screen tv :(

let me know if you have any input here that might help me decide

"We need more facial hair around here", or why work never gets boring

We all know my feeling on beards...bad news all around.

Anyway my officemate is constantly changing his, he came in today beard shaved with just a moustache and now he's trying to get our other co workers to follow his lead and just grow anything because as he says "we need more facial hair around here"...and so i dont feel left out they said i can wear dresses since thats what girls do----thanks.

Eric proclaimed that all great men in history wore moustaches and challenged us to think of a few....Jim and I pretty much only came up with terrible people in history...hitler, stalin, etc and in turn challenged him to come up with a positive great man in history with a moustache.

his answer?

The Village People.

The Wedding

So as I mentioned Puja and "the jeev" got married this weekend. From what I could tell they mixed some hindu and seik traditions since puja is one and the jeev is the other.

Anyway the whole weekend was a big party starting from when I landed on friday. We got bindis and henna friday night and watched a lot of beautiful dances and singing the families all did.

Sat was the big day, us bridesmaids and puja all got ready in her hotel room which was fun, the aunties were all so helpful when it came to pinning us into the saris since obviously i've never worn one before.

Then the jeev arrived on a horse...a white mare as his father corrected me. There was also a fire pit on the alter so that was cool.

The party was fun too b/c Puja's step mom is a star indian dance teacher in maryland so she attempted to teach us some stuff...we ended up looking ridiculous but it was a lot of fun.

I'll post pictures to flickr if you want to see any. Puja looked Gorgeous so I recomend checking out my pictures.

I took a trip to garden grove.....

Puja and Sunjeev's wedding was awesome!

More to come when I wake up for real.

Go Navy!

This weekend a bunch of us went to Annapolis to see the NAVY northern Illinois game. Navy won, so that was awesome. It was my first college football game so it was quite the experience. I cant wait to go to more :)

Today I'm leaving work early to volunteer at food and friends' Slice of life and hand out holiday pies :) Should be fun, plus I bought an apple pie for myself :) so if anyone wants some apple pie tonight give me a call.

Oh and the patriots kicked the bill's ass' last night, and normally I try not to be an obnoxious boston fan, but its kinda funny b/c my boss is a bill's fan and he was pretty sure that when they lost to the pats it would be less of a difference than when the redskins lost....didnt happen.

Best. Thing. Ever.

strike?

I'm sure most of you are ready for this writter strike to be over right? I'm totally afraid that pretty soon they will stop airing new office or 30rock. now THAT would be a disaster.

Well today on the radio I heard another thing...now in solidarity to the TV writters bloggers are going on strike. This is terrible for 2 reasons

1. What am I going to do when i'm bored at work?

2. Does this mean that I should strike too? I mean this is a pretty legit blog ;) I think I'll hold off for now on striking in solidarity...lets just hope this doesnt make me a scab :(

I think I'll watch Newsies again tonight and brush up on what to do in a strike just in case.

The picture

World Series Trophy

Now that the season has come and gone and just about everyone hates Boston its time for the world series trophy to tour the country.

Well last night my cousin alerted me to the fact that it was going to be making a stop in the rayburn building. So after work last night we made a pit stop.

Someone else took a picture that i wanted to post, but of course at work I cant upload pictures, so just ask me if you want to see it. (maybe i'll post it from home tonight)

The trophy was AWESOME. its just as great as you'd imagine it to be. I just wish that it toured with some of the redsox players. now that would be something.

Entourage is full of LIES

Lies i tell ya!

So remember when turtle threw vince's party on the boat an paid for it by having it sponsored? including skyy vodka?

WELL for NYE laura and i were trying to figure out how to get the costs down (since its going to cost maybe 15,000 bucks). We looked up skyy vodka and they had 2 requirements. 1. they sponsor parties whose proceeds go to hiv/aids stuff, and also 2. we found out that they only donate to 501c3 (non profit organizations)...so yeah, back to the drawing board.

The Quartermaster and the Jewler's Daughter

This weekend we went to Gettysburg, and it was awesome! Basically everyone that i told thought it was totally weird to go there...except levi, he thought it was pretty cool. (At least thats how i'm gonna read that expression) Anyway, we stayed in this super cute bed and breakfast called the dobbins inn. They had a authentic type dinner in the dining area, and each room was named after a war general. We stayed in the "reynolds room" which I picked over the phone based on the descriptions the lady gave me of each room over the phone. Totally office beat farm style ;)

We saw all three days worth of battle (July 1,2,3) as well as the cemetery and Abe's address's location. I"m pretty much a Gettysburg expert now.

If you were wondering who my favorite war general was its gouverner k.warren. He was the Army Engineer so I feel like we have a lot in common.

We took something like 250 pictures, so i'll post those on my flickr site eventually :)

I wish I were back in Gettysburg now, it was one of the best weekends ever.

I Confess...

I watch Gossip Girl. I realize that the show is terrible, and highly trashy, but I started watching at the first episode, and cant seem to stop .

This week I was watching real time (not tivo) so I was forced to watch the credits at the beginning and realized that the show is produced by "joshua safran". Well I think thats cool. I have no idea who it is though.

Too bad The show probably wont make it past this season.

Interesting

What does my bat mitzvah, Leonardo Dicaprio's Birthday, and the End of World War I all have in common?

Answer: they all happened on November 11th (1995, 1974, and 1918).

Clearly I like to observe one of the first two...but this year a certain history major is being a stickler for world history and insists that only one important thing happened on that day. hmph. we are going to have to work on this ;)

bears. beats...battle star galactica

voting

So I voted last night.

I left work early and used my vacation time. I feel like there should be a charge number for voting. anyway, it couldnt have been more difficult.

First my little voting card had two addresses on it, one major one with a phone number and everything, then one little one hidden in the corner under the bar code. I went to the big address first. Wrong place. Luckily they are only a block from each other.

So I walked to the right place, and I was all frustrated, and there is one lady standing out front and says "would you like a sample democrat's ballot"...Whatever. i'm so frusterated that i half heartedly take it and shove it in my pocket. I felt bad cuse she was standing in the cold and the only one there.

So I find my way to the voting room (which by signs looks like handicapped voting, but i guess it was voting for everyone) and I am THE ONLY one there besides people working. Two of them take my name, and a third shows me to the voting machine.

ok...GO!

I look down at the machine not knowing who was running for what or what anything meant, but fully prepared to vote for anyone that had a D next to their name. Well out of every category that I had to vote for guess how many people had a D next to thier names??? TWO.

But I have a sample democrat's ballot!!!

I pull it out of my pocket, and just copy exactly what they have highlighted.

DONE!

I'm never voting for a non presidential election again.

New Orleans: Weddings, Strip Clubs, and Casinos oh my

Went to New Orleans for Laurie and Will's Wedding. It was beautiful and super fancy, I was impressed just how many wine glasses were at my seat when I sat down :) Lots of dancing, and great food.

The night before the wedding we hit up bourbon street which was awesome. You might recall from my blogs in June that bourbon street has nothing but strong drinks and giant beers. Its awesome, we eventually found out way to a strip club that advertises "wash your own girl", and since our group was 3 girls and 4 boys we got out voted and had to go in. Everything was going fine till right before we were about to leave the oldest stripper i have ever seen in my entire life comes out. Swear she was like 40 or something. gross. The boys couldn't even look at the stage, it was hilarious.

After the wedding we hit up the casino (which was only across the street). By the end I was up six bucks. Awesome.

Anyway the wedding was great, the celebrations in New Orleans were awesome, and I'm sad to be back at work :(
