yo gabba gabba

A few weeks ago i came across a link that no longer works for a painting of Jesus in a space suit. I sent it to Charlotte and Levi b/c the link was associated with a kids show i vaguely remember hearing one of them talking about. Yo Gabba Gabba. It turns out that i was right and its a kick ass show their kids watch.

I wikipediaed it and its a kids show done by the aquabats with awesome guests like the shins and elija wood. it rocks.

Still never having seen an actual show I was watching the soup and they had a clip of little kids dancing on this show and it looks awesome! I might try and tivo an episode.

Nougat

You know what the worst candy ever is?

Nougat.

Its terrible.

So yesterday I was at the vending machine at work caving into a week of looking at the new reeses product "whipps". Reese's is pretty much one of the tastiest treats ever so i try every variation they come out with. well this one was a swing and a miss.

Its a frickin nougat core, with a layer of peanut butter and a layer of chocolate. It was almost as if Someone had said "hey, our product is too tastey how can we make it worse? i know, we'll add nougat! lots of nougat!".

I hate you nougat

The Lemonheads....or Evan Dando et al

Clearly I went to another lemonheads show. This was maybe my millionth show of thiers (including dando solo shows. I was kinda suprised bill stevenson was actually touring with them which was better than the usual bring along whoever they can get.

Anyway The show wasnt the best I've ever seen them....or even close. The sound was TERRIBLE, it wasnt thier fault, I blame the Black Cat. Something was screwy, it started of semi ok, but by the end you could barely make out what he was singing....good thing i know every song :) Finally they ended the show and the encore was Evan by himself with just one simple guitar, so whatever was screwy before was now gone and he did a very crisp great version of outdoor type, a couple others including the crowd request of Frank Mills.

Evan then begins to play another song...stops...and says "go home people" and the show is over in true Dando style.

Dead Poets Society

If you know me you probably know that I am not what you might call "up on the movies"....sure I've seen most of the movies between 2000 to now, but any summer movies between 1991-2000 I'm missing, and any movie at all before then there is a good chance I havent seen.

I have begun trying to get caught up on them.

For starters I have been promised a list of movies I "have to see" and I guess i'll go through that and maybe watch some.

I also want to get better at actually watching the netflix movies I rent since my queue is 126 movies long, so last night I watched Dead Poets Society. It was really good. who knew? I was especially surprised at how young ethan hawke started acting, and he was really good. I think i would have liked the movie a lot more if i had seen it in 1989 when it came out since there have been a lot of movies that copied it since then so it wasnt as original for my viewing pleasure. oh well, still great.

Monday morning

This weekend was pretty action packed with holiday parites, dancing, and more...but the part I'll blog about is a movie I saw on friday night.

We went to see Juno. I was initially drawn in by the trailors since it seemed kinda funny plus the cast seemed awesome. I have a little crush on Michael Cera, plus Jason Bateman is quite the hottie. Plus I'm currently making my way through the second season of arrested development which is awesome.

The rest of the cast was pretty good too with Allison Janey and Jennifer Garner and whoever that little girl that played Juno was.

The movie itself was hillarious yet serious at the same time. I dont want to ruin anything since i'm sure none of you have seen it yet, but it was awesome and you should definately go see it. like tonight. right now. go!

strikes

Yesterday I was playing hookey from work and walking around the foggy bottom area when I came across a strike. It was weird because it didnt appear to be placed infront of anything it related to. It was some sort of carpenters union I think...at least thats what the signs implied. They were chanting something but I have no idea what they were saying because it was so muffled.

If i were to strike against anything I think i'd do a better job. I'd have clearer signs, better chants, and i'd pick a less random location. so if anyone needs help striking i'm your girl....unless you are part of the writers union, then I say get back to work, i need my TV.

weird and pointless buisneses

I was in chesapeak bagel for lunch yesterday when I saw an ad for something totally pointless.

Its a service that takes your ipod that you already own, and takes your cds that you already own, and uploads the cds to the ipod for you and gives it back to you within 4 days. This seems dumb b/c then you wont have your itunes library on your computer. Someone at lunch pointed out that its a pain in the neck to upload 200 cds so maybe it would be a good use, but the company also charges 1.40 per cd so that would cost 280 dollars. what a waste.

i looked up the website when I got back and they havent built it yet (www.hodgepoddc.com) and then i looked up who owns the site and its some dude in virginia....so not only is he runing this company but he's trying to reach out as far as he can get. weird. I wonder if he has any customers

broken bed

I broke my bed.

oops.

Its kinda weird though b/c on all 4 corners there is a metal support with another metal dowel (4inches long) in it attached to a wheel. well somehow one of the dowels and wheel fell off without bending any metal on anything. I think its time for a bed frame, maybe that will add the support my bed needs

Lots of Latkes

So Last night I made my annual batch of latkes, however i made one giant mistake. I overestimated how many I had to make.

The recipe you see is very vague it calls for 20 potatoes and 10 eggs "some" flour etc. It doesn't say how many people this will feed or any details like that...so forgetting what a batch looked like i decided to make 1.5 batches.

thats 30 potatoes.

We started shredding them and before i knew it i had potato shreds in like every bowl i own all over my kitchen waiting to be fried. This was RIDICULOUS.

I ended up making less than half of what I prepared and still had plenty of leftovers.

Now I remember...last year I made half a recipe....ooops

Fun Weekend

This weekend I spent a lot of time celebrating Criss family events and it was Awesome. Thier new house is beautiful, but pretty far away. The family church was way closer so that was a bit easier the next day. As always I had a great time.

I may have permanently f'ed my work computer. I dis enabled cookies to be set b/c i realized what extent people could track what I did when i wasnt doing what I am supposed to (like right now with this blog)...but so many pages wont open in firefox with the cookies disabled (like this one which i am using ie right now).

I know what you think...just turn them back on right? well for some reason that doesnt fix it and its permanantly f'ed. guess i'll be using IE more.

Also on this, the second to last night of Hannukah I am leaving work early today and making Latkes! so if you want some feel free to give me a call and swing by tonight :)

The Source of Sickness

None of my friends or anyone i know are sick, so how did i get sick you might wonder? good question!

Well I went to subway in greenway shopping center like a week before I got sick...Every single person working behind the counter was sick that day.

They are literally the only sick people I have come into direct contact with in the past couple weeks.

stupid subway.

GW!

Last night we went to a GW basketball game. My first one of the season...and a lot of things seemed different.

First off the place was so empty...now granted we were playing university of maryland Eastern Shore, but still...back when i went there (i just wanted to say that) we use to come in mass to any game! And line up hours before the game just to get in.

Second The jumbotron, while it has good pictures, no longer pumps up a crowd...things I noticed missing were that they no longer put the lyrics to the fight song up, they dont hype three point shots or "and 1's" etc

Third, the band barely played any of their songs. I kept waiting for "Hey Baby" but it didnt happen.

Fourth, The cheerleaders/dance team barely peps up the crowd anymore.

Ok thats all I can think to complain about right now. But dont get me wrong, I had a ton of fun anyway :)

kashmir

My old Ring tone use to be Led Zeppelin's Kashmir. Great song. Great Ringtone. I recently tried to get that ring tone back, but att no longer offers it, and I think I just found out why.

Verizon now offers this whole led zeppelin package complete with Kashmir ringtone. Infact thats how they advertise it. Sounds like someone heard my phone ring and decided I was on to something.

I guess I'll just stay ahead of the curve with the next awesome ring tone...the office theme song :)

the accordian is the single most awesome instrument ever

1. It ALWAYS looks awesome
2. Its always fun to rock out while playing an accordian
3. It works with almost any type of music

Mewithoutyou had an accordian player of course. The same guy that played the accordian was totally hyper and crazy and awesome.

Thrice was a lot better than I thought they'd be. I liked them early on but they kinda lost me at vissaru or however you spell that. But they played a lot of thier more mellow stuff and of course my favorite stare at the sun.

Brand new was last and they were awesome, one of the best times i've seen them (and i've seen them a lot). The funniest part is that I enjoy looking around the crowd to see who the craziest fan is, and The one I happened to pick was none other than Evan Gwinn. Bleach blond hair, bandana, and hanging out with someone of the same style both moshing hard in the pit. It was awesome.

And now I have no voice
