What a busy weekend! Birthday season has begun. Mike (big baby bare) had his birthday so we went to the melting pot. If you've never been I highly suggest going. seriously though, what is better than melted cheese? This was my third time there but CLEARLY not my last. in fact i'm thinking about going back right now.
Julie's Birthday came next. She and I have been friends now for over half our lives! crazy huh? Anyway we went to Mount Vernon, Austin Grill and then topped it off with "rock it" karaoke bar. (a place i do not recommend) It was here that we saw the best karaoke-er EVER. Picture the scrawniest guy you've ever seen, put on big glasses, and a random Tshirt and jeans. He got up and sang in a high voice "I want to sex you up". It was Awesome.
Also GW had a great weekend, won the A-10 and is getting ready to play again Thursday night at 5:10....cant wait! I just filled out my bracket and put gw going most of the way (wishful thinking I know) but letting UNC take it all. maybe I'll scan in my bracket at some point and post it. probably wont though so you'll just have to ask me about it.

Isnt it Ironic?
well I dont know...is it?
As many of you know I recently bought my car. Check cleared right away with no problems, yet it wasn't until this week that the car officially and legally is ready for the road. After TWO temporary tags and COUNTLESS calls to VW, VW Credit, and the DMV all four of us are finally in agreement that nothing is VW's, everything is under my name, and i'm all paid up with VW and the Commonwealth of Virginia...Yes folks, that means that FINALLY the safran tags are back on!
What I've learned from this is that people at vw within the store and within the entire company don't talk to each other, and its up to me to call each one of them individually. Also the DMV does not know how to use the postal service appropriately, so if your registration expires...say Feb 28th, dealing with the paperwork online on Feb 8th does not give them enough time to send it to you even if they claim its 5 day delivery.
Well I think I'm finally all set
Safran Tags --- Check
Feb 08 stickers and registration --- Check
Arlington county stickers --- Check
Passenger side front hubcap..........what? someone stole it while I was at work. That's right, the vehicle is finally mine and NOW people steal stuff from it. WTF!

Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa puffs
I've been wanting to read this book for a long time now, so I yoinked it from leslie's apt recently. She was pretty sure I'd like it, and I've only read the first chapter so far, but its excellent. Its like he is writting directly to me.
I've recently been complaining to people how TV is ruining our lives, not because I sit infront of the tv too much, but just because it is giving us un realistic models of what our lives should be like and we just cant live up to it. It tells girls we should be sleeping with everyone in town (no comment on how true that may or may not be) and it tells boys they should live a carefree life and just sorta take girls as they come but think nothing of them.
The author of SDaCP had numerous examples of movies and TV shows to backup this point. He says that he will never be sexually or romantically satisfied nor will his partners because nothing will live up to the shows or tv.
The funny thing is that his #1 example of what is ruining our lives is John Cussack/Lloyd Dobbler. If you know me at all you know I have a major crush on him. Infact while I read this chapter I was sitting in bed with lloyd watching me with his boom box over his head.
So I guess for now I'll continue my search for the real life lloyd...its not my fault, i blame the TV.

Turk: It sounds like you're asking me out on a man date. JD: Why are you so afraid of loving me?
As Leslie recently mentioned in her blog we are weekend bar buddies/ wing girls for eachother. infact I think its pretty safe to say we are singlehandedly the two best wing girls in the buisness. no need for details here, so just trust me, we are awesome.
Well recently I've realized that our friendship parallels that of a TV friendship: JD and Turk on scrubs. Recently she started calling me JD and I call her Brown Bear. its great. She is kinda the independant one keeps emotions and feelings inside while I on the other hand like to share and talk about everything. We have discussed getting walki talkies so we can be in constant communication (yeah, like we arent already), turns out JD and turk had walki talki watches...which turned out to be not so good in the end.

Before all of you leave me comments saying how scrubs is not as good any more, I am fully aware of this and I'm talking more like in the comedy central rerun all day every day sense of scrubs.
As with JD and Turk with girls, based on guys Leslie and I have gone for since we became friends we have come to the conclusion that we have the opposite taste in guys, so we'll never be caught fighting for one :) Infact she's been known to say to me when I ask "guess who i think is cute" she responded "i just look for the one that I think is least attractive and I know thats the one you like"....Last week we ran down our list of cute guys and there were a few we agreed on based on personality but other than that I think the closest we got was George Clooney who I acknowledge is good looking and she is head over heals for. I think this may be a good thing.
I guess in general JD and Turk are pretty opposite. here are some other things Leslie and I have agreed to disagree on
*Dylan vs Denny
*Crunchy vs Smooth peanut butter
*spring vs Fall
Of course two things we can agree on is sense of hummor and music.

Engrish
The three people i am surrounded by the most at work speak English as their second language. actually I'm not sure one of them speaks English as any language...but that's a different issue.
One of them recently had a conversation with me where I wasn't sure what he was saying so i was smiling and nodding and before I knew it I had agreed to go out to dinner with him tonight (not a date, he just wanted to thank me for helping him)...so I guess if i cant avoid him today I'll be at some Indian restaurant in the greenbelt area tonight...so if you want to drop by and jump in to make things less awkward that would be greatly appreciated. I'll buy you dinner in exchange for saving me.
Also my office mate takes about a million personal phone calls a day. I can tell they are personal because they are not in English. What always amuses me though is what words he says that don't translate. It will be like "blah blah blah GREENBELT blah blah blah". The other day he was giving someone directions here though and what I don't understand is why "193" was still in English...doesn't his language have words for numbers?
Lastly the one that I'm not sure speaks English as any language talked at me for like 20 min today and i had NO clue what she said. ZERO. then she'd start laughing so i figured it was my cue to laugh so I'd chuckle, but what i did manage to pick out of conversation is that the commie Russians are stealing her ideas! maybe someone should tell her the cold war is over and Russia is not communist anymore.....
I need a new office :(

Black Cat, Itiotarod, Pleasure Place...sounds like the makings of a good weekend
So much to say about the weekend that it might run into another post...not sure yet. here is part of the weekend for now.
Friday night I went with Marie and a few others to the Black Cat to see the thermals which was an awesome show. The funny thing is that there was this one kid that pissed everyone off by trying to start mosh pits when noone wanted to mosh. So the guys we went with built a physical wall around me and marie to protect us and bounce off the guy...untill enough was enough and one of them just BAM elbowed the guy in the face, forcing him to leave the mosh pit thus leaving the rest of us in peace. That is not the first time some guy has physically injured another person at the black cat on my behalf....dangerous place you know.
Beautiful sat Leslie and I put on our walking shoes, got out our cameras and set out to see the city. Our first stop was the idiotarod. earlier in the week this was our only plan for the day but the beautiful weather convinced us to stay outside the whole day. At the idiotarod strangers were coming up to us right and left asking us what was going on...our favorite (i think leslie might submit this to overheard dc) was some guys getting off the metro at 2pm in dupont circle
Guy1: wow, what is this, must be some sort of cultural thing
Guy2: I wish I werent so drunk
Our venture in the city ended us at the pleasure place...of course. We were looking at their "game" section and leslie picked up one of the card games. She read aloud "15 truth or dare cards, 1 die...." It wasnt till she read it aloud that she realized it wasnt a fatalistic game with a death card...Talk about death by sexy!

Dance With Me! Dance The Dance of Life!
As I mentioned in a previous post I've been going through my computers and backing up what I want to save in preparation for my new sound carded computer. Anyway in my cleaning efforts I stumbled across this old video of Geller and J.Lau just goofing around in my parent's basement. I think its from the winter of 2003 since that's when I first got my digital camera and was playing around with the settings. Enjoy this week's Weekly Video!
(ps. I also found an awesome vid of Lem and Allen serenading me from '05, but I know Lem would just about kill me if I posted it, so we'll see if that ever goes up)
