An end of an era

I have taken down my myspace page. I have decided I no longer have a need for that and have deleted all the content from the page (i have left the actual page up juuuuuuust in case i ever need it)

Also i have to figure out how to copy my photos from there b/c I like the pictures of myself and want to save them :)

Tea Question

So i've drank more tea this week (other than chai) than i have maybe in my whole life. Previously any attempts at drinking tea have ended with me thinking that tea is disgusting, however this week i seem to mildly like tea, and love drinking the warm :) So here is my question to you fellow bloggers, what is the best kind of tea? What do you recomend??? So far i've found that I like anything minty, but havent wandered into other flavors much yet. Maybe fruity or something? I can see myself liking orange teas.

One problem, I think i might be allergic to chamomile. Its unclear, but i drank chamomile and got all blotchy, so I think that there was a connection there.

Philladelphia

We spent the weekend in Philladelphia for Andreea's birthday. It was a lot of fun, and great seeing andreea, alexis, rob, scott, and eric....but it would have been a lot more fun if i could have talked. Yes, thats right. I have no voice. its gone and i spent the weekend writing down what I wanted to say, which should be interesting since I have to give a presentation tomorrow am (previously scheduled for today).

We did a little touristy stuff like the liberty bell and independence hall. The most fun was going to the Yards brewery where they have found some of the founding father's old recipes and replicated thier brews. The weirdest one is Ben Franklin's "old spruce" which at first smell, smelled like cleaning fluid, and then upon tasting it, it tasted exactly like a spruce tree. I would not buy it.

We went to dinner at Lolita, and after a 2 hour wait we sat down to my first byo meal. We brought a bottle of patron for the virgin margs they served, and some beer, and a pear cider. I however, mainly drank warm tea trying to bring my voice back. Unfortunately there was only salt on the table for the margs, which i mistakenly took for sugar and dumped in my mint tea. Gross. I drank it anyway b/c i figured it was good for my throat.

Two other good drinks i had were 1. Angostura, champagne, and a cube of sugar creating lots of bubbles. Surprisingly good! 2. I tried apricot lambic (served in a champagne glass) was so delicious.

Next time I go to philly I need to go to brunch at Moshulu! its a giant boat restaurant with the most extravagant champagne brunch and I want to try it.

Disapointing Day of TV

so i'm home sick today. I couldnt sleep the night and came out to the living room around 4 to watch tv only to find "paid programs" on every chanel imaginable including MTV. Finally after a few min the next hour of programing began and one chanel had maried with children mini marathon, so i watched that till the sun came up.

At this point peter went out to get me supplies for the day: Sudafed, Juice, and Sorbet! how nice :)

The rest of the day has alternated between sleep and TV, but the only things i've found to watch I only marginally like. Just Shoot Me, and Hannah Montana (i like both but i've seen all the episodes so its boring now). I accidentally fell asleep during one of the Just Shoot Me's and woke up to terrible "Yes, Dear". Usually I can find some awesome old school TV, or really good but terrible indulgence I let myself watch b/c I'm sick. Not today. I just set the TV to find any Jetsons or Saved by the Bell to record at any point today, I hope it finds something! Cant go wrong with either of those.

WTF is wrong with you MA?

Teddy would be proud....wait, no....whats the opposite of proud??? Ashamed, yeah thats how he'd feel. Seriously though! big time WTF

What a big weekend! Fun was had by all, snuggling by some.

Leslie and Sarah's visit was a success! Friday night we met them out at DC9 for a little dancing and open bar. This was fun until just before 1 when we all realized we were sweating beyond belief, and the only solution was to just go home. Seriously, dc9 wins for temperature wise the hottest bar in dc. We did discover an amazing music video (leslie has pictures). I cant remember the band or song, but the album was "guns dont kill people, lasers kill people".

Sat we ventured out to cowgirl creamery for lunch which was delicious. We then went to eattonville for dinner followed by the much anticipated annual wine and cheese party hosted by Diana and Doug. Already looking forward to next year. many bottles of wine were drank. An anonymous friend performed the robot for us throughout the night...to which Levi said "if you are gonna do that, you've gotta commit"..she committed. We stayed around for the after party, and on the way out leslie got a new straw hat, and Jen got a brand new jar of tiger balm which were both randomly sitting in the hallway.

Sunday and monday were fun as well, but i'm tired and dont really feel like typing anymore :) Lets just say the wizards won probably thanks to mine and leslie's gilbert arenas jerseys, and grapefruit vodka is delicious.

The Countdown is on

For Leslie and Sarah to arrive in dc for a weekend of fun and snuggling. Today is going to be impossible to get through :(

Also I finally found my ipod headphones so i can listen to music at the gym again. This was really important b/c the machine I like the best is directly under a light, so when i try and read a book while working out, the shadow of my head bobs in and out of the area where I am trying to read which is super distracting. I'm pretty sure that last night I was the only one at the gym that listens to the new dashboard cd to get pumped while working out. I'm weird I know. Tonight I'll prob stick with some old school "brand new".

Dont Read the Lost Symbol

Ok So i blogged before after having started reading the lost symbol. I admitted it wasn't good writing, but that it read fast and it was mildly entertaining. I have now finished the book. I regret taking the time to read the last 50 pages of the book. Seriously, the action ends and all is fine like 50 pages before the book ends and you have to suffer through the most ridiculous and boring reading! Its the worst. Not only that but they totally null and void anything interesting the book may have offered just with those last 50 pages, and they manage to make the masons look super lame.

Fun weekend being a tourist

Melissa and Brian were in town this weekend so we played tourist for most of the weekend. Here are some random things i noticed

1. VA bars no longer allow smoking! yay! I guess i had heard about it, but we went to four courts friday night and so happy to see the pack of smokers outside as we approached the bar! Now if only they could do something about their crappy live music.

2. I miss lauriol plaza, we tried to go but of course the wait was too long and went to rosemary's thyme (and had an awesome dinner). But sometime soon i'm gonna need to go super early and get a table at lauriol. mmmmmm

3. Brickskeller is getting better again. They had almost all the beers we ordered. I had the new dogfish head/sierra Nevada collaboration before moving on to girly drinks like apricot beer and pear cider...it turns out that pear cider is delish and i'll be getting that again.

4. We went to the archives and some nerdy guy went up to the guard and asked about the security devices on the declaration and constitution. Turns out the new vault/display cases cost 5 million dollars, and the whole room 20 million dollars, and the guard assured us that if there were a horrible attack on the US that while all the people would be long dead, the documents would be ok.

In summary, it was a non smoking, non mexican food, pear cider high security kinda weekend.

I think Kia is lying to us

So i was watching TV the other night and a Kia commercial comes on, and its of a retro, and clearly American boy running to a car factory and the voice over is talking about how the kia factory was a family tradition and that a bunch of his relatives had worked there when he was a kid (possibly longer, i don't remember). So at this point they are implying that Kia's have been made in the US for 50 plus years, THEN the screen flashes a sign that says something to the effect of "Kia: American Made Forever"...ok maybe it didn't say forever, but they are clearly selling the car based on the fact its an American car.

Now I know some about cars, more than some people, less than others...but if there is one thing I do know is that Kia is a South Korean car and only broke onto the American market in recent years. And by recent years i mean the past 10-20 years (closer to 10).

So then I wikipedia'd it Here, and it says that ground was not even broken to build an American factory till 2006!!!! And production did not begin until 2009.

Infact Wikipedia goes on to say that the word "kia" actually means "come up out of asia"

So here is my question to the Kia marketing group....Did you think Americans were that dumb that they wouldn't notice? I am adding this to the growing list of reasons I would never buy a Kia.

Happy 2010

I'm back in the dc metro area after a very restful vacation.

The only thing that kinda sucked, is that after relaxing for like a week we ended the vacation stressed again b/c of all the idiots at the airport. First off we flew air trash, so we knew we'd have to pay for our luggage, but didn't quite realize how much...so it turned out to upgrade our seats to business class and check our bags for free. We also got to cut the security line, although a family was in front of us and took FOREVER to go through. Then once we finally got on our delayed flight we got free drinks.

The flight attendant for business class was a giant jerk. For example during his safety speech he stops mid speech and goes "excuse me, why arent any of you listening? why doesn't anyone ever listen to this? what are you all gonna do when something happens?" Then someone spoke up and said "cuse we've all heard this before" and the flight attendant goes "well i'm not gonna save you then, i'm leaving you behind". I did a little math in my head, and i've heard the lecture a minimum of 300 times (which is probably way under what i've actually heard it). Then the flight attendant storms off and starts comparing this situation to the landing on the hudson to the other flight attendant. The flight attendant then returns and goes "we usually give out drinks to business class before flying but we arent today to save time, do you forgive me"....the girl behind me who he had directed his dismay at people not listening goes "i dont, you yelled at me infront of everyone, I certainly dont forgive you"...then they start debating it out about how the girl is going to survive without listening to his speech. That guy was on a serious power trip.

Anyway, i'm back and its cold.
